Rimmel stay matte liquid lipstick review

As a Drugstore liquid lipstick i am actually impressed. Rimmel came out with 15 shades of their stay matte liquid lip colour, ranging from nudes, pinks to very dark shades. The collection has a wide selection of shades that’ll compliment any skin tone.

I picked up 5 shades and i’m quite happy with my choices. I’ve tried numerous Drugstore and high end liquid lipsticks and end up tossing them to the side!

These liquid lipsticks claim to be-

Kiss-proof

Waterproof

Touch-proof

12 hr wear

Lipsticks can get very messy,  especially when you kiss someone say on the cheeks or you drink from a bottle or glass, most of it comes right off! How annoying is that? Now these bad boys from Rimmel won’t do that, once they are properly dried, they are locked into the lips and won’t go anywhere for up to 12 hrs. Mind you, i haven’t worn them for that long so i couldn’t say for sure if that’s the case, but i do know they are indeed smudge proof . There’s also the discomfort to contend with when it comes on to some liquid lipsticks, they often times leave your lips dry and looking blotchy, i haven’t experienced this with Rimmel, so i’m delighted.

Pros-

Affordable

Long lasting

Not drying

Great pigmentation

Cons-

Some goes on patchy

You’ll need about 2-4 coats(depending on how intense you like it to be)

Takes about 45 secs to a min to dry completely matte

This shade is called ‘Heartbeat’- A beautiful cerise pink.

This one is ‘Blue Iris’- A deep purple with blue undertones.

I do have three more which i swatched and reviewed on my channel, so be sure to check it out, the link will be provided below.

They retail for £5.99, and i got mine from Superdrug in the UK, however i’m almost certain you’ll be able to get your hands on them from any beauty store.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.

Morphe 25A palette, worth £19?

Hey there lovelies!

To add to my growing makeup collection, i’ve purchased another Morphe palette. I have been a big fan of Morphe ever since they were highly spoken about by a lot of beauty influencers on social media. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t always buy everything they rave about, a particular product has to really grab my attention for me to spend money.

Browsing on Beauty Bay, I came across this palette that looked like something i’d most certainly enjoy using, now Beauty Bay i must add is one of my favourite online makeup stores, i  always end up purchasing even when i’ve said to myself i’m only window shopping, yea right! Haha.

Of course i quickly grabbed this palette as things on Beauty Bay go so fast, ‘you snooze you lose’. It has been my ‘go to’ it consists of some really gorgeous warm shades, that are perfect for everyday wear or any occasion for that matter. I can never have too many neutral palettes as i always wear them more than i do bolder more vibrant shades.

This palette has 25 shades, ranging from taupes, beige, browns, golds to blacks. Basically you get a decent selection of warm tones.

1st row

The first row swatched ok, i use the beige  shades for my brow bone highlight. If you’re going to use on the lids, then you’ll definitely have to build them up.

FullSizeRender-106

2nd row

I don’t care much for the second row, it’s my least favourite in the palette. I don’t know what exactly i’d use these to do, but i’m sure they can also be used as lid colours. They aren’t as pigmented either.

FullSizeRender-105

3rd row

The third row again was just ok, let’s just say the first three rows in this palette were not the best.

FullSizeRender-108

4th row

Now the fourth row is my absolute favourite, just look at how pigmented these shades are! The shimmer or foiled shades are hands down the best in the palette. They are super pigmented, smooth and blend like a dream.

FullSizeRender-107

5th row

The fifth row wasn’t bad either, the shades are pigmented as well.

My overall thoughts on this palette, i would say it is definitely a mixed bag! The first three rows weren’t up to much.

Is it worth £19? In my opinion not really, Morphe has other palettes which have 35 shades, and some have amazing pigmentation selling at £22, now that’s a better deal. I guess it comes down to a matter of personal preference.

Here’s a look i created using this palette, i have to say i really loved the outcome!

Maybelline Fit me foundation

Rarely i find a drugstore foundation that works for me. I can count on one hand the ones that i’ve tried that i genuinely liked. Off the top of my head here are a couple of my favourites. Revlon and L’oreal Tru Match. Yes i know not much but i can use these foundations and not worry about breakouts or getting too oily throughout the day.

I actually bought the Maybelline Fit Me foundation about five years ago but somehow picked up the wrong shade, i decided that was a sign that it wouldn’t have done anything at all for my skin, so it was never used. This was the one in the glass bottle.

Now being a lot on social media i always hear others speak about products that in their opinion are ‘holygrails’, and this foundation came up highly recommended so i wanted to test it out and see what all the fuss was about.

IMG_1546

This foundation is available in a wide variety of shades, i was pleasantly surprised when my local drugstore had my shade and deeper ones. Our voices are being heard women of colour! The shade i’m using at the moment is Truffle, it is a little darker than desired but it will be perfect for the Summer.

Claims:

1- Give a natural matte finish

2- Great for normal/oily skin

3- 12hr wear

4- Medium/full coverage

5- Targets shine and visibly erases the look of pores

My thoughts on this foundation:

I really like the longevity and it gives great coverage. The plastic tube packaging is also a plus as it is very light, so this makes it travel friendly. It won’t make a mess as the glass bottle does as the small hole allows for manageability.

I know this foundation isn’t exactly new, but i had to say my piece on it. Great drugstore foundation find i must say, and the price wasn’t bad either!

Have you tried this foundation before? What are your thoughts? Please let me know, thanks for stopping by.

Soft sunset eyes

Hello lovelies,

I previously did a review/swatch on the OPV Beauty ‘Gorgeous’ palette, see here.

https://shaunzworld.com/2017/05/06/opv-beauty-gorgeous-eyeshadow-palette/ I wanted to test out the eyeshadows with a base on my lids to see if they would come off more pigmented and of course the shimmery shades worked well, with just a little bit of fall out. As for the matte shades, i had to work a little extra on them by packing them onto my lids for them to actually show up on my skin how i wanted them to. I also added some setting spray to my brush, so that i could intensify the eyeshadows some more, that my friend always work like a charm!

Here’s the first look i created from the palette, i will be using it to create other looks as well.

As you can see a very soft, simple and effortless look. If you like simple, beautiful looks then you’d truly appreciate this one.

How to achieve eye look:

Use a primer or base of choice, a white base will make the shadows pop a lot more so i would recommend that.

Use orange shade as crease colour or transition if you will, add a brown shade to intensify the crease. Blend both together very well for a seamless finish.

Add the bronze shade to outer areas of the lid, then the golden yellow to inner parts of the lids, blend ends where they both meet into each other, so there are no harsh lines.

Remember blending is your friend when it comes on to makeup application! Then proceed to lining top lash line and add lashes for a more dramatic effect. Easy lemon squeezy haha. On the lips i have OPV Beauty matte lipstick in ‘Fame’.

To see how i did this look check out video! Thank you.

OPV Beauty matte lipstick swatches

You ought to know by now that i’m a complete lipstick junkie, haha! Guilty as charged, i was surfing the internet and saw Beauty Bay pop up, so what did i do? Clicked the link and went right into shopping mode. Oh boy, maybe i need help or not!

I was due for some new lipsticks anyway as i do get bored easily of what’s in my collection. I saw OPV and decided that i should give them a whirl. Few hours later i had five liquid lipsticks in my basket and some other bits and pieces, which you will no doubt see featured here soon.

I find myself gravitating a lot towards nudes and nudish pink lipsticks lately as they are so subtle yet flattering. It also depends on how it’s worn as some nude lipsticks require a brown lip liner to make it look somewhat decent on women of colour.

Now here are some of the lipsticks i picked up.

This one is called Boss B- It is a dusky pink. I had to pair it with Nyx lip liner in ‘cocoa’ to make it a bit more subtle and wearable on my skin tone.IMG_1436

Can someone say barbie? Haha, ok i’m not the biggest fan of this shade but i thought it would be fun for the Summer. I definitely need to tone this down a whole lot! I might use a lighter shade in the middle to give it an ombre effect. This shade is called ‘Resist’ a bright and vibrant pink.IMG_1439

I’m in love with this red called ‘Silencer’, it suits my skin tone so well. It gives me a regal, classy feel! Kind of old Hollywood vibe. This is a true red shade.IMG_1434

Pros;

1- lightweight

2.Comfortable on the lips

3.Nicely pigmented

4.Smudge proof

Cons;

1.Streaky whilst applying

2.Slight paint scent

3.Might need to apply 2 coats

These lipsticks retail for £8 on Beauty Bay. I really do like them! I have a couple more that i showed on my channel so be sure to have a watch. Have you tried them before? Let me know. Thanks for stopping by.

Easy & effortless Valentine’s Day look

img_4503fullsizerender-91fullsizerender-90fullsizerender-92

Hello beauties, i’m showing off another Valentine’s Day look, so if the first one wasn’t up your street, perhaps you’ll prefer this classic look. Red lips are quite popularly worn on Valentine’s Day, just because it’s sultry, sexy and goes perfectly with any eye look and skin tone.

This is hands down one of my favourite combinations! I’ve kept the eyes quite simple and neutral, then went in with bold lips. If you know me, then you know that i tend to gear towards more simplistic, easy to achieve and wearable looks, so this one is no different. Whether you’re dark or fair skinned, you need not worry, i’ve made sure to cater for both.

I do hope you like this look as much as i do, i’ve also done a video, so be sure to check it out. There you’ll see the products i’ve used and how i went about creating the look overall. Thanks for indulging me, have a wonderful day.

Love, Shaunz xo

Romantic Valentine’s day makeup look

img_4376img_4375

This is such a feminine, soft and romantic look, very fitting for Valentine’s day. I loved the fact that it can be worn on any skin tone as well. I used all Drugstore, affordable products, so basically this look is very budget friendly. Who needs to break the bank when there are amazing products out there that are inexpensive!

For my face i used L’oreal’s Tru match foundation, then L’oreal’s translucent powder to set everything in place. I used Sleeks contour kit in medium, LA Girls concealer for highlighting under my eyes, forehead, top of my nose, cupids bow and chin, the Sacha buttercup powder to set the concealer in all the areas i just mentioned. For Highlighting the top of my cheeks, City Colour highlight trio and Nyx blusher in Mocha.

I used the Shany 7 layer masterpiece kit for my eye look, honestly this kit is so worth having, i also used the brown from the Wet N Wild vanity palette to intensify the crease area. Then for the lips LA girls matte liquid lipstick in dreamy, but i used  NYX lip liner in cocoa to outline my lips and make sure that i fill them in a bit so the lipstick doesn’t look crazy, this shade when used on women of colour has to be used with a brown lip liner to tone it down a bit.

I’ve done a video on the entire look so be sure to check it to get a more in depth look. See video down below.

Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful Monday.
