Rimmel stay matte liquid lipstick review

As a Drugstore liquid lipstick i am actually impressed. Rimmel came out with 15 shades of their stay matte liquid lip colour, ranging from nudes, pinks to very dark shades. The collection has a wide selection of shades that’ll compliment any skin tone.

I picked up 5 shades and i’m quite happy with my choices. I’ve tried numerous Drugstore and high end liquid lipsticks and end up tossing them to the side!

These liquid lipsticks claim to be-

Kiss-proof

Waterproof

Touch-proof

12 hr wear

Lipsticks can get very messy,  especially when you kiss someone say on the cheeks or you drink from a bottle or glass, most of it comes right off! How annoying is that? Now these bad boys from Rimmel won’t do that, once they are properly dried, they are locked into the lips and won’t go anywhere for up to 12 hrs. Mind you, i haven’t worn them for that long so i couldn’t say for sure if that’s the case, but i do know they are indeed smudge proof . There’s also the discomfort to contend with when it comes on to some liquid lipsticks, they often times leave your lips dry and looking blotchy, i haven’t experienced this with Rimmel, so i’m delighted.

Pros-

Affordable

Long lasting

Not drying

Great pigmentation

Cons-

Some goes on patchy

You’ll need about 2-4 coats(depending on how intense you like it to be)

Takes about 45 secs to a min to dry completely matte

This shade is called ‘Heartbeat’- A beautiful cerise pink.

This one is ‘Blue Iris’- A deep purple with blue undertones.

I do have three more which i swatched and reviewed on my channel, so be sure to check it out, the link will be provided below.

They retail for £5.99, and i got mine from Superdrug in the UK, however i’m almost certain you’ll be able to get your hands on them from any beauty store.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.

Morphe 25A palette, worth £19?

Hey there lovelies!

To add to my growing makeup collection, i’ve purchased another Morphe palette. I have been a big fan of Morphe ever since they were highly spoken about by a lot of beauty influencers on social media. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t always buy everything they rave about, a particular product has to really grab my attention for me to spend money.

Browsing on Beauty Bay, I came across this palette that looked like something i’d most certainly enjoy using, now Beauty Bay i must add is one of my favourite online makeup stores, i  always end up purchasing even when i’ve said to myself i’m only window shopping, yea right! Haha.

Of course i quickly grabbed this palette as things on Beauty Bay go so fast, ‘you snooze you lose’. It has been my ‘go to’ it consists of some really gorgeous warm shades, that are perfect for everyday wear or any occasion for that matter. I can never have too many neutral palettes as i always wear them more than i do bolder more vibrant shades.

This palette has 25 shades, ranging from taupes, beige, browns, golds to blacks. Basically you get a decent selection of warm tones.

1st row

The first row swatched ok, i use the beige  shades for my brow bone highlight. If you’re going to use on the lids, then you’ll definitely have to build them up.

FullSizeRender-106

2nd row

I don’t care much for the second row, it’s my least favourite in the palette. I don’t know what exactly i’d use these to do, but i’m sure they can also be used as lid colours. They aren’t as pigmented either.

3rd row

The third row again was just ok, let’s just say the first three rows in this palette were not the best.

FullSizeRender-108

4th row

Now the fourth row is my absolute favourite, just look at how pigmented these shades are! The shimmer or foiled shades are hands down the best in the palette. They are super pigmented, smooth and blend like a dream.

FullSizeRender-107

5th row

The fifth row wasn’t bad either, the shades are pigmented as well.

My overall thoughts on this palette, i would say it is definitely a mixed bag! The first three rows weren’t up to much.

Is it worth £19? In my opinion not really, Morphe has other palettes which have 35 shades, and some have amazing pigmentation selling at £22, now that’s a better deal. I guess it comes down to a matter of personal preference.

Here’s a look i created using this palette, i have to say i really loved the outcome!

Glow on a bugdget-highlighting palettes

Hello friends, welcome back, it’s been about a week since i last blogged but sometimes we need to step away to reflect and gather our thoughts.

Ok so i’ve been playing around with different highlighters that are more on the affordable side, i’ve often times stressed that you don’t have to break the bank to look good, and in this case i’m speaking about makeup.

I picked these up a few months ago, so i can safely give my honest opinion on them. Let me start off with the LivBeauty Shine Bright palette, mind you i’m not familiar with this brand but i must say i have no regrets testing it out.

IMG_0093

It has 6 shades, which are pretty much beige, rose and hints of champagne. This palette is perfect for light to medium skin tones, but also dark skin friendly. The beauty about highlighting palettes are that they double up as eyeshadows so if you think that some of the shades may not pop very much on your skin tone, no need to toss it to the side, just sweep them across your lids and you’re good to go.

FullSizeRender-103

So as you can see in this swatch, it can also work on dark skin tones. Beautiful shades that are very nicely pigmented and soft to the touch. Very travel friendly as well as it’s lightweight and easy to store.

This one from Revolution is my favourite! I think it suits my skin tone better as it has a very lovely warm golden shade that always seems to compliment any skin that is dark to deep dark.

IMG_0092

Eight beautiful, pigmented, soft shades that range from gold, rose pinks, champagnes to beige. Now this palette is definitely suited for most if not all skin tones. The golden shade at the bottom right is the one i always gravitate towards, sometimes i like to mix it with the other shades. Another travel friendly palette.

FullSizeRender-39

I have not been able to put this palette down since i purchased it, Revolution has some amazing highlighters that are super affordable and are of great quality. I have another highlighting palette from Revolution as well that i also love.

All i can say is, these two palettes are truly winners, you get so much for a small price tag! I know a lot of people are big fans of the more high end ones but honestly these measure up in my opinion.

Do let me know what your favourite highlighters or highlighting palettes are and also if you’ve ever tried these before. Thanks for stopping by.

Kourtney Kardashian inspired outfit

IMG_2295IMG_2294

Hello everyone! I’m a big fan of Kourtney Kardashian’s fashion sense, i think she knows what works for her and she’s quite trendy too. She wears her pieces with confidence and that’s exactly one of the reasons i love her style.

I saw her in a similar outfit to this sometime ago and i was obsessed with it. It was right up my street, a crop top with palazzo and some heels, simple yet chic. The fun part about this outfit is that i already had the pieces in my closet and i thought to myself, why not do an inspired look!

The inspired outfit came right to life with my own spin on it. Perfect for a day or night out, it’s one of those styles that you can dress up or down. If you take the heels out of the equation and put some flats or sandals on, it immediately turns into a more casual look.

I really loved this outfit, great for warm Summer days or nights. It shows a bit of skin but very tastefully. Quite inexpensive too, so you won’t be breaking the bank at all.

Lazy girl twist outs on 4b natural hair

Hey lovelies!

Twist outs have never been my strongest area when it comes to natural hair care, mainly because i’m a bit impatient and i guess you can say a tad bit lazy haha.

I’m a believer in the least amount of manipulation for your hair, pulling and tugging sometimes cause damages, it may not be extensive at first but it can lead to that. This is why twist outs can be quite helpful, as it is also a protective style, which doesn’t require much, a few will do just fine.

I’ve been asked numerous times about how i keep my hair looking so healthy and full of life. I honestly don’t do an awful lot. I basically keep it moisturised, i also do a lot of styles that will ensure it stays protected, i try to eat healthily and stay in shape, these factors do help believe it or not!

IMG_2159

Before

FullSizeRender

After

IMG_2160

So basically this is quite a quick and easy process. The products i’ve used are:

1.Water

2.Eco styling gel

3.Hair moisturiser

4.Oil

I made sure to detangle my hair, with a wide tooth comb after i’ve saturated it with water, not drenched otherwise it’ll take a longer time to dry.

I then use my moisturiser to soften it up, add a bit of coconut oil to seal in the moisture. Then use a pea size amount of gel to ensure that the twist stay in tact, this will make them last longer too.

I apply all of the products mentioned to each twist. I let it stay over night, then take them down the following day.

I think the trick is not to mess about with the hair too much, otherwise all the curls will be lost and that’s how we arrive at unsuccessful twist outs haha.

That’s how i get a bit of definition in my hair. Sometimes i do two to three twists using the same products and i get similar results. Hope this helped.

Thanks for stopping by.

Celeb inspired look-Rihanna ‘Wild Thoughts’

I’ve never really been one to jump on the celeb makeup look  bandwagon, but i was truly inspired by this one. Rihanna’s latest song collaboration, the video that is for ‘Wild Thoughts’ was nothing short of great quality. She always brings her best to the table and that’s why she remains one of the top artistes of our generation.

Her makeup look was absolutely amazing! The moment i saw the video i thought to myself, perfection! I loved the colours, just so vibrant and bold, very fitting for Summer.

I had to recreate the look. It is inspired so it may not be the exact replica of hers. I found this makeup look so much fun to do, i’m an avid lover of bold colours, even though i’d never actually wear them out on a daily basis, but just working with them, mixing and blending puts me in a happy place.

FullSizeRender-39 3FullSizeRender-102

To break down the look;

For the face i mixed Maybelline’s Fit Me foundation in Truffle and Caramel. LA Girls concealer in Fawn for the under eyes and Sascha Buttercup powder to set the concealer in place.

To set my foundation i used the usual Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Dark deep. Sleeks contour kit in medium and to highlight the top of my cheeks, Revolution bronzer in Rock on world.

I used three palettes to complete the eyes. Revolution Redemption palette (one of the blues for outer corners), Cargo California Throwback (the teal and very dark brown for the lid and outer corners) and Morphe 25A (couple light shades for the brow bone area and a brown for the transition shade), i sort of winged it as i wasn’t exactly sure about the shades of green she wore.

The lips were a combination of Coloured Raine’s Cherry Blossom and Colourpop’s Creeper. I loved the outcome! To see the tutorial for this look, see link below.

London travels

Hello my friends, it’s been a while! Hope you’re all well.

I had the chance to revisit one of my favourite cities over the weekend, and as expected i had a good time. London is such an interesting, lively, wonderful place to visit. So much life everywhere you turned, lots to do and see, very rich history.

I didn’t get to do everything i had set out to do but i was very pleased that i got to see some of the places that i fell in love with.

First thing on my list was to get some exercise in whilst sightseeing, i think this is one of the ideal ways of actually taking in all the historic sites, as opposed to taking a bus, taxi or train. We set out on a hot day, which wasn’t a very good idea, but we were on a mission haha.

The first stop was the National history Museum, where you can find some of the most fascinating creatures to ever grace this earth! A must see if you’re ever in the London area. My favourite bit was seeing the dinosaur being brought to life, it was scary yet interestingly realistic!

After the museum tour, we did a few parks, namely Hyde Park, Green Park and The St.James Park. Buckingham Palace was not to be missed, so of course we made our way there and as expected packed with people from all walks of life.

The last places we passed by were Southbank to see the London Eye, i’ve been on it a few years ago, such a wonderful experience, very gentile! Then West Minster to see good old Big Ben, “the prince of time keepers”: The biggest and most accurate four faced, striking and chiming clock in the world.

If this wasn’t a day well spent, then i don’t know what is! After about four hours of walking on a quite muggy day, it was time to call it quits and head back to the hotel to regroup!P1010887

I truly enjoyed my day in London City, won’t be long before i’m there again. Thanks for stopping by!
