Celeb inspired look-Rihanna ‘Wild Thoughts’

I’ve never really been one to jump on the celeb makeup look  bandwagon, but i was truly inspired by this one. Rihanna’s latest song collaboration, the video that is for ‘Wild Thoughts’ was nothing short of great quality. She always brings her best to the table and that’s why she remains one of the top artistes of our generation.

Her makeup look was absolutely amazing! The moment i saw the video i thought to myself, perfection! I loved the colours, just so vibrant and bold, very fitting for Summer.

I had to recreate the look. It is inspired so it may not be the exact replica of hers. I found this makeup look so much fun to do, i’m an avid lover of bold colours, even though i’d never actually wear them out on a daily basis, but just working with them, mixing and blending puts me in a happy place.

To break down the look;

For the face i mixed Maybelline’s Fit Me foundation in Truffle and Caramel. LA Girls concealer in Fawn for the under eyes and Sascha Buttercup powder to set the concealer in place.

To set my foundation i used the usual Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Dark deep. Sleeks contour kit in medium and to highlight the top of my cheeks, Revolution bronzer in Rock on world.

I used three palettes to complete the eyes. Revolution Redemption palette (one of the blues for outer corners), Cargo California Throwback (the teal and very dark brown for the lid and outer corners) and Morphe 25A (couple light shades for the brow bone area and a brown for the transition shade), i sort of winged it as i wasn’t exactly sure about the shades of green she wore.

The lips were a combination of Coloured Raine’s Cherry Blossom and Colourpop’s Creeper. I loved the outcome! To see the tutorial for this look, see link below.

Love,

Spring flower (the aster)

Hello lovelies,

Can you believe we are actually getting closer to Summer? My second favourite season! Spring is hands down my favourite season as it represents rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth. All the beautiful flowers bloom and the surroundings look so cheerful and happy!

I’ve decided to do a flower inspired makeup look and the flower i chose was the aster. Asters are daisy like perennials with starry-shaped flower heads. They bring delightful colour to the gardens.

This look was so much fun to create, using one of my favourite colours on both my eyes and lips. The purple is so bold and pops really nicely on my skin tone!

I mixed two different lip colours and i really liked the outcome. Sometimes having no idea of what you’re doing can sometimes lead to something outstanding and that was the case for my lipstick choice.

To see how i did this look, check out video linked below. Happy watching and thank you, always.

Tropic Colour Click lipstick review

Tropic is a makeup and skincare line based in the UK. All their products are made with natural ingredients, they are vegan and cruelty free.

Now i’ll be testing and reviewing one of their colour click lipsticks. These lipsticks are enriched with oils that are designed to give your lips a smooth and moisturised look and feel.FullSizeRender-39 6FullSizeRender-49IMG_1714.JPG

This shade is called ‘Rosehip’  it is a beautiful subtle berry shade with a creamy consistency. It glides on quite smoothly, leaving the lips feeling hydrated, with a stunning finish. It somehow has a lipgloss feel without the stickiness and to top it off it has a pleasant aromatic smell. Don’t fancy wearing matte lips, then this would be just right. Suitable for any skin tone and any occasion.

This lipstick retails for £14, they also have different shades to choose from. Feel free to check out their website, they have an array of amazing skincare and makeup items to choose from! Link provided below. Thanks to Tori for sending this lipstick to me, it’s quickly becoming one of my ‘go to’s’.

Disclaimer: This items was sent to me for review purposes. I’ve given you my honest opinion.

Maybelline Fit me foundation

Rarely i find a drugstore foundation that works for me. I can count on one hand the ones that i’ve tried that i genuinely liked. Off the top of my head here are a couple of my favourites. Revlon and L’oreal Tru Match. Yes i know not much but i can use these foundations and not worry about breakouts or getting too oily throughout the day.

I actually bought the Maybelline Fit Me foundation about five years ago but somehow picked up the wrong shade, i decided that was a sign that it wouldn’t have done anything at all for my skin, so it was never used. This was the one in the glass bottle.

Now being a lot on social media i always hear others speak about products that in their opinion are ‘holygrails’, and this foundation came up highly recommended so i wanted to test it out and see what all the fuss was about.

IMG_1546

This foundation is available in a wide variety of shades, i was pleasantly surprised when my local drugstore had my shade and deeper ones. Our voices are being heard women of colour! The shade i’m using at the moment is Truffle, it is a little darker than desired but it will be perfect for the Summer.

Claims:

1- Give a natural matte finish

2- Great for normal/oily skin

3- 12hr wear

4- Medium/full coverage

5- Targets shine and visibly erases the look of pores

My thoughts on this foundation:

I really like the longevity and it gives great coverage. The plastic tube packaging is also a plus as it is very light, so this makes it travel friendly. It won’t make a mess as the glass bottle does as the small hole allows for manageability.

I know this foundation isn’t exactly new, but i had to say my piece on it. Great drugstore foundation find i must say, and the price wasn’t bad either!

Have you tried this foundation before? What are your thoughts? Please let me know, thanks for stopping by.

Soft sunset eyes

Hello lovelies,

I previously did a review/swatch on the OPV Beauty ‘Gorgeous’ palette, see here.

https://shaunzworld.com/2017/05/06/opv-beauty-gorgeous-eyeshadow-palette/ I wanted to test out the eyeshadows with a base on my lids to see if they would come off more pigmented and of course the shimmery shades worked well, with just a little bit of fall out. As for the matte shades, i had to work a little extra on them by packing them onto my lids for them to actually show up on my skin how i wanted them to. I also added some setting spray to my brush, so that i could intensify the eyeshadows some more, that my friend always work like a charm!

Here’s the first look i created from the palette, i will be using it to create other looks as well.

As you can see a very soft, simple and effortless look. If you like simple, beautiful looks then you’d truly appreciate this one.

How to achieve eye look:

Use a primer or base of choice, a white base will make the shadows pop a lot more so i would recommend that.

Use orange shade as crease colour or transition if you will, add a brown shade to intensify the crease. Blend both together very well for a seamless finish.

Add the bronze shade to outer areas of the lid, then the golden yellow to inner parts of the lids, blend ends where they both meet into each other, so there are no harsh lines.

Remember blending is your friend when it comes on to makeup application! Then proceed to lining top lash line and add lashes for a more dramatic effect. Easy lemon squeezy haha. On the lips i have OPV Beauty matte lipstick in ‘Fame’.

To see how i did this look check out video! Thank you.

OPV Beauty ‘Gorgeous’ eyeshadow palette

Hello butterflies, hope your weekend is going great so far. I wanted to quickly share with you an eyeshadow palette that i got from OPV Beauty.

I am in love with the colour selection, let’s just say this is a one stop shop for most eye looks! It has from neutrals to a few bold shades.

OPV is a UK based brand, however they ship worldwide, they have quite a bit of products in their line. I’ve been trying to test most of these items and so far they are actually not bad. In my previous post i spoke about their matte lipsticks, i mentioned how lovely they are, so you can expect to see me collecting more of them!

Back to the topic at hand! This palette consists of 35 shades, 17 matte and 18 shimmer. It’s what i would call a mixed bag! Some of the matte shades didn’t seem to swatch very well on my skin, however using a white base will surely bring out the pigments a bit more, as for the shimmer ones, wow! They are absolutely delightful, the pigmentation is top notch.

When i saw the palette on Beauty Bay it immediately reminded me of the Morphe Palettes, however i’ll have to admit the Morphe palettes take the cake! This palette is very reasonably priced at £20, and quite lightweight, so this makes it travel friendly.

Now here’s the palette i speak of, it is called the “Gorgeous” palette.

What are my thoughts? Beautiful palette and great choice of colours, but as i mentioned above some are not as pigmented as others. That i can fix by using a very good base. Many looks can be created from this palette, perfect for weekend getaways! My favourites hands down were the warmer tones, if you know me, then you’d know that i always marvel about warmer tones on my skin.

How do i rate this palette? I’d give it a 7/10, just because the more neutral shades need to be a bit more pigmented for my liking.

Do you have this palette? Let me know how you feel about it. Thanks for stopping by.

OPV Beauty matte lipstick swatches

You ought to know by now that i’m a complete lipstick junkie, haha! Guilty as charged, i was surfing the internet and saw Beauty Bay pop up, so what did i do? Clicked the link and went right into shopping mode. Oh boy, maybe i need help or not!

I was due for some new lipsticks anyway as i do get bored easily of what’s in my collection. I saw OPV and decided that i should give them a whirl. Few hours later i had five liquid lipsticks in my basket and some other bits and pieces, which you will no doubt see featured here soon.

I find myself gravitating a lot towards nudes and nudish pink lipsticks lately as they are so subtle yet flattering. It also depends on how it’s worn as some nude lipsticks require a brown lip liner to make it look somewhat decent on women of colour.

Now here are some of the lipsticks i picked up.

This one is called Boss B- It is a dusky pink. I had to pair it with Nyx lip liner in ‘cocoa’ to make it a bit more subtle and wearable on my skin tone.IMG_1436

Can someone say barbie? Haha, ok i’m not the biggest fan of this shade but i thought it would be fun for the Summer. I definitely need to tone this down a whole lot! I might use a lighter shade in the middle to give it an ombre effect. This shade is called ‘Resist’ a bright and vibrant pink.IMG_1439

I’m in love with this red called ‘Silencer’, it suits my skin tone so well. It gives me a regal, classy feel! Kind of old Hollywood vibe. This is a true red shade.IMG_1434

Pros;

1- lightweight

2.Comfortable on the lips

3.Nicely pigmented

4.Smudge proof

Cons;

1.Streaky whilst applying

2.Slight paint scent

3.Might need to apply 2 coats

These lipsticks retail for £8 on Beauty Bay. I really do like them! I have a couple more that i showed on my channel so be sure to have a watch. Have you tried them before? Let me know. Thanks for stopping by.
