Keeping fit and in shape!

Keeping fit and in shape is an important aspect in my life, whether i’m jogging around my neighbourhood, running on a treadmill in the gym or simply doing a bit of skipping, i’m always finding a way to stay active.

I go to the gym about 3 times a week but i found that i was limiting myself and quite frankly i was bored with the same routine. What’s the next best thing? I’ve decided to put the gym on hold for a little while and do some light running in the mornings and i can assure you, it makes me feel really good. I’m not into long distance or competitive running, i just do it to keep fit, so on a good day i’d do a distance of 3k or 4k. I use the Under armour app to map my runs and it’s a brilliant app as it provides me with all the information i need.

Running i found really helps me to get my creative juices flowing, therefore by the end of it, i know exactly what i want to do with my day. It makes me feel more relaxed and happier as well. Did i mention you get to see all the beauty nature has to offer, the fresh air and the gorgeous trees and flowers, all the more reasons to have a run!

Other benefits of running are, it adds to your life in terms of keeping illnesses at bay, it’s good for your heart as it is said to reduce the risks of cardiovascular disease. It strengthens your joints and bones. It is just an overall great way to stay fit. Incorporating a balanced diet is also essential.

Running is a cheap and easy way to keep your body in tip top shape. You don’t have to think of spending gym membership fees or getting the fanciest of gears, as long as you have a good pair of trainers suitable for running then that should do the job.

Don’t forget that your health is your greatest wealth, and  with good health comes longevity. What do you do to stay fit and in shape?
